COVID-19 Education Series launched
As a provider of NHS services to patients with type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and obesity, we have seen 300% week-on-week increase in service demand since March 1, 2020.
Coronavirus in one way or another is having an impact on everyone. For people living with an underlying medical condition such as type 2 diabetes, the advice is now clear: practice social distancing and taking appropriate precautions to limit your risk of infection. COVID-19 is considered to be a greater risk to people with pre-existing health conditions, and older frail people. This is because older people and people with weakened immune systems or chronic medical conditions – such as high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, cancer and diabetes – are more at risk of severe symptoms.
Patients increasingly wish to know what they can do to look after themselves, reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection, stay active, stay well and stay fit – mentally and physically.
In response to this need, today, the COVID-19 Education Series went live within the Low Carb Program platform, covering key areas of learning including:
- What are viruses?
- Introduction to COVID-19
- Symptoms of COVID-19
- How to stay safe / preventing catching and spreading virus
- What to do if you feel unwell
- If I catch Coronavirus will I get better?
- What to do if you need to go to hospital or see a doctor
- Do I need to wear a mask?
To support the COVID-19 Education Series, a Digital Classes Library provides at-home exercise and yoga workouts, mindfulness and meditation activities, and relaxation exercises to help patients stay active, stay calm and stay well at home during these unprecedented times.
